The National Government will continue to strengthen their partnership with churches in providing health and education services in Papua New Guinea. Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill said the opening of the new Kaugere Health Centre is a very good example of the partnership.
In his short speech Prime Minister Peter O’Neill said the current partnership is achieving greater things for PNG. He said government in the past having been providing lease services through church government partnership where nothing has come of it. “And our people have suffered for many years as a result of the declining services,” Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill told the people of Kaugere on Thursday. Present to welcome the Prime Minister was NCD Governor Powes Parkop and Moresby-South MP Justin Tkatchenko – Minister for Sports, 2015 Pacific Games and National Events. He said secondly government funding that we are giving down to the districts and the provinces are now starting to work. “Miracles like this that we are now witnessing today is happening all across the country where health centres are being renovated, refurbished and built again. “Schools are been rebuilt throughout the country, roads are being redone throughout the country. “That is because for the first time government funds are reaching these communities throughout the country,” said the Prime Minister. He said much these funds in the last 40 years budgets have never reached these communities and districts. However the current government in the last two years are able to make sure that funds over K2 billion reach these communities. NCD Governor Powes Parkop acknowledged and commended his Moresby-South MP Justin Tkatchenko for the opening of the health centre. He said basic services and developments are now reaching communities in Moresby-South because of Minister Tkatchenko visions and foresight. Governor Parkop also credited the Prime Minister for making sure the Provincial Support Improvement Programme (PSIP) and District Support Improvement Programme (DSIP) funds were made available for MP’s and Governors to access. He said the opening of health centres in the country is the result of PSIP and DSIP working for the people. Comments are closed.
