The Government said Papua New Guinean's should not panic over the outbreak of Ebola in West Africa, as the country's authorities are well prepared for this disease.
Health and HIV and AIDS minister Michael Malabag gave this assurance during question time in Parliament this morning. Without highlighting specific measures, the minister said all concern stake holders have worked together in preparing for this disease should it reach PNG shores. The minister told parliament a committee has already being put in place to look into this preparations. Minister Malabag was responding to questions raised by Northern Governor Gary Juff who asked whether PNG is preparing for Ebola, a dangerous disease which is currently spreading in West Africa, killing thousands of lives there.
