Government Lawyers representing the Prime Minister have filed fresh defamation proceedings against Mr Anjo in the Waigani National Court.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill confirmed today that Mr Anjo has been sued for his defamatory remarks against him, and the case has been lodged at the Waigani National Court. Mr Anjo has been cautioned to carry out his activities with care and respect, and not to defame people in his organized public gatherings. Finance Minister James Marape and Member for Moresby North East Labi Amaiu, issued this word of caution yesterday after receiving reports of Anjo calling Marape a thief, and giving insulting names to the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill. A frustrated member for Moresby North East, Labi Amaiu, yesterday demanded Noel Anjo to make a public apology to Finance Minister James Marape, and Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, for calling them a thief and a bastard, respectively. He said Anjo should debate current issues using facts and figures and not to go very low by discrediting people and incite frustration and anger amongst the public. Finance Minister James Marape questioned the activist’s intentions and motives behind his public forums and gatherings. Member Amaiu also said Anjo owed it to the people of Tari Pori and Ialibu Pangia and should come out a make a public apology. And to the students of UPNG who hosted a protest for the UBS loan, Finance Minister James Marape said their concerns have been heard, and the Ombudsman Commission has now taken care of this investigation, and they should concentrate on their studies.
