The government has declared a state of emergency for electricity services in the country for two months to address issue face by PNG Power regarding its performance.
Minister for State Enterprise Ben Micah says the SOE will be for 2months as approved by the National Executive Council to ensure matters within the electricity services are sorted out. Micah also appointed advisory committee headed by retired Navy Captain Tom Ur and his assistance Mr Daeka Tevatu. Amount owed to PNG Power from overdue power bills and illegal connections is K130million
