FOR the first time electronic billboards will be used to promote the sixth Papua New Guinea Games.
This is part of the commitment by Lae MP and Minister for Community Development, Youth and Religion Loujaya Kouza as the Morobe capital hosts the biennial games next year. Kouza’s commitment was announced by her representative Sere Kala during the launch of the event and games logo by the Lae Host Organising Committee (HOC) last Thursday at the Lae Yacht club. Kouza committed K100,000 to the HOC headed by chairman Phil Franklin. The electronic billboards will be set up by AD Effects Limited. They will be mounted at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium and other designated sites around the city and will feature information on games, community notices, advertisements by sponsors and results. She also called on organisers to follow up on her submission to Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko to get funding to purchase nine 36-seater buses from Ela Motors to be used during the games and then released to the nine Morobe districts. “I would like to see some visible infrastructure development before November 2014 begin in Lae. While there has been a lot of media publicity on the 2015 Pacific Games, very little has been said about the PNG Games in Lae,” Kala said about the comments.
