Today will go down in the history of Papua New Guinea as a very important day
because it marks the loading of the first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) at their plant site outside Port Moresby today.... Prime Minister Peter O'Neill said this when speaking before announcing the loading of the first LNG cargo onto the Hela Spirit, which is one of the six vessels marked to help transport the gas to overseas markets. Mr. O'Neill said the loading of the LNG also shows that Papua New Guinean's are also capable of producing results and coming out on top, and also competing among others in the world in terms of multi million kina projects and also being the first in trying out many things. Meanwhile, Mr. O'Neill also took time to thank those who have helped to bring the project to where it is today. He said those who have helped contributed immensely towards this project includes Exxon Mobil's CEO Peter Graham and his staff, Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare, Treasurer Patrick Pruaitch, Hela Governor Anderson Agiru and former MP's Sir Moi Avei, Arthur Somare and Paul Tienstein.
