The Papua New Guinea Defence Force Recruitment Office has been closed as of yesterday, over allegations in relation to bribery during the recruitment process. PNGDF Chief of Staff Captain Philip Polewara confirmed this and announced that internal investigations into the recruitment saga have begun last week. Captain Polewara said that this has brought a bad name to the PNGDF, and they hope to clear the mess, and again restore public confidence in the Force’s recruitment exercise going into the future. "It's not only code of military disciplinary will apply, but it's also a civil offense. "We will take a tough stand on this issue as it's very embarrassing and disappointing not only at Headquarter but the country as a whole,'' said Captain Philip Polewara He also added that while the investigations are underway, cadets will continue with their training, but once the audit is furnished and those that do not qualify will be removed immediately from the force. Meanwhile, Captain Polewara has also announced that the recruitment of PNGDF Officer Cadets is likely going to be out-sourced and given to another Defence Force recruitment agency from overseas or a reputable recruitment organization in PNG. He said discussions were held in regard to recruitment, and they are looking at the possibility of outsourcing recruitment in order to restore public confidence within the force. next : Developers In Port Moresby Should Consider Resettlement : Governor Parkop Comments are closed.
