The Correctional Service has received another blow following the death of its Commissioner, just two days after losing its Deputy Commissioner Corporate Services David Melange.
CS sources told NBC News, Mr. Balthazer died at the Port Moresby General Hospital at 5-o'clock this afternoon, after being flown down from Goroka where he was initially hospitalised on Tuesday. Mr. Balthazer was appointed Commissioner in 2011 replacing Richard Sikani. He was hosting the annual Commanders Conference in Goroka when he collapsed and was hospitalised. Sources say he could have died from heart conditions, a problem he has been suffering from for years. A committee head by Deputy Commissioner Operations Michael Waipo will be coordinating funeral and burial programs for the late Balthazer. Meantime, the body of the late Mr. Melange is at the Funeral Home in Port Moresby, awaiting plans for repatriation. Comments are closed.
