The Australian Defence Force could be among several outside groups involved in providing security for APEC's 2018 Summit in Papua New Guinea.
That's according to Peter Withers, team leader of the Australian Federal Police Planning Advisory Group in P-N-G. He said, senior P-N-G police officers have travelled to the G20 conference in Brisbane, to see what lessons can be learned from such a large gathering of world leaders. Inspector Withers told Radio Australia's Pacific Beat program, P-N-G security officials are using the Pacific Games next year, as a way to learn more about policing a major international event. I'm confident that Papua New Guinea do now recognize or do recognized the importance of APEC and the importance of early planning. I believe PNG will call upon the assistance of in a national partners. Probably Australia will feature very highly on that. And it's my believe that the Australian Defence it's not my position to speak for them but it's my ..believe that Australia Defence force would have some input in to it and some support of it.
