Prime Ministers council says the leadership tribunal and the ombudsman commission has no powers to investigate the PMs conduct on constitutional questions apart from the supreme court who is duty bound to interpret the constitutional questions surrounding the UBS loan.
In a lengthy submission today by the PMs Lawyer Mal Varitimos, he claimed there were flaws in the referral of the PM by the public prosecutor to the chief justice to set up a tribunal to investigate allegations of misconduct by the PM. The public prosecutor maintained they followed procedures in the referral and argued that the tribunal go ahead to hear allegations of misconduct. The case returns tomorrow for a decision on the submissions by the parties.
