PNG Prime Minister Peter O'Neill's lawyer Tiffany Twivey was detained by police at the Jackson International Airport after she arrived from Brisbane, Australia. PNG National Fraud and Anti-corruption officials arrested and charged her after several hours of interview at the National Fraud and Anti-Corruption office. Directorate head Chief Superintendent Matthew Damaru said Ms Twivey was charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice. He said the charge emanates from a proceeding to set aside the warrant of arrest on Mr Vele at the Waigani Committal Court. Meanwhile lawyer Twivey has welcomed the charges and will fight to prove herself innocent . "They interviewed me but had already prepared the charges - it didn’t matter what I said - the dirty plan has already been made. I welcome the opportunity to go through the court process and prove my innocence and prove it I shall” She said .
