The prime minister also announced that a landowner vetting process has started for landowners within the LNG project areas.
He says the government will use this process to address issues raised by landowners, before any payments can be made. Mr Oneil said monies for the landowners will be kept safely until the vetting process is completed. "I want to reassure everybody, the LNG proceeds will be parked in a trust account from the first day of the money that is been received on behalf of the landowners, it will be parked in the trust account. That trust account will be manage jointly by our government and Exxon, all the monies will be parked there until we have the proper clan vetting process is completed. That process is now starting into take place and I want to assure the landowners that their funds are safe and that is with the government, that is going to make sure that we deliver the benefits direct to them".
