Plans are underway for a nationwide stop work next Monday, as concerned citizens rally support for a collective voice against corruption.
Organised by a Social Media Activism Committee, support for the planned stop work on the eve of the handing down of the 2014 national budget, is gaining momentum. Spokesman Lukas Kiap, who's also a blogger of PNG Anti Corruption Movement for Change, says people are concerned that agencies tasked to fight corruption are either not doing enough or remain silent on corruption, hence this move. Whilst expressing disappointment over the lack of support from unions, NGOs and churches, the Committee is asking all workers, including PMV and taxi operators nationwide, to voluntarily stop work on Monday to demand action to fight corruption. Mr Lukas says there will not be any forum or gathering, but they want to meet with the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader and present a petition especially to the Governmen Comments are closed.
