Foreign Affairs and Immigration Minister, Rimbink Pato, has expressed satisfaction on the outcome of the recently concluded PALM Foreign Ministerial Meeting in Japan.
Mr. Pato says, the adoption of the Chairman's Summary, reflects the true spirit of consultation and consensus on issues of importance to PALM collectively, as well as Japan and individual Pacific Island Countries. He says, this in particular, underlines the significance of the advantages for Pacific nations, in terms of access to Japan's 500 million US dollars committed to PALM 6, and the ongoing Pacific Environment Community Fund commitment of 66 million US dollars, since 2009. Mr. Pato said these funds are vital to address environmental, island and rural water supply use and consumption, disaster management and Climate Change issues. The Minister signed the Exchange of NOrtes on the Madang Market Rehabilitation project, costing 26-million Kina with Japan's Parliamentary Senior Vice Minister, Norio Mitsuya as well as undertaking the Visa Facility offered by Japan to PNG, which will soon be reciprocated by P-N-G. The three day PALM Meeting was held in Tokyo and Sendai, Japan, from the 25th to the 27th of this month. Comments are closed.
