The Waigani Committal Court, has granted lawyer Paul Paraka, a further five months to prepare his submissions for reply.
Paraka's lawyer, James Poka told the Court yesterday, they needed more time to look at the thick files, before deciding on steps to take. Other reasons were that, some of the co-accused are yet to be arrested or those that have been arrested have their cases adjourned. Poka also said there was an injunctive stay order on arrests of two senior government ministers pending a hearing next week. Magistrate Pinson Pindipia agreed saying interest of the accused must also be taken into account as its important for him to defend the allegations adequately. He refused to entertain the police prosecutors argument to limit the time to three months and ruled for Paraka to come back on July 31st. Other co-accused who appeared this morning was Lawyer Paul Othas and Former Deputy Finance Secretary Jacob Yafai who's cases have also been adjourned to May 22nd for mention Comments are closed.
