Papua New Guinea PM Hails New UK Prime Minister Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape has extended his congratulations to Sir Keir Starmer, the newly elected Prime Minister of Great Britain. In a statement on behalf of the Government and people of Papua New Guinea, Marape also commended the Labour Party for its victory. “On behalf of the Government and people of Papua New Guinea, I congratulate Prime Minister-elect, Sir Keir Starmer, on his election as Prime Minister, as I congratulate the Labour Party on its victory,” Marape said. Highlighting the enduring relationship between Papua New Guinea and Britain, Marape reaffirmed the nation's commitment to their longstanding partnership. “Papua New Guinea remains a loyal friend of Britain and a committed member of the Commonwealth of Nations,” he emphasized. Looking forward to future collaborations, Marape expressed his eagerness to work with Prime Minister Starmer. “I look forward to continuing this long partnership between our two nations with Prime Minister Starmer into the future,” he added. In his statement, Marape also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, expressing gratitude for his leadership and extending best wishes for his future endeavors.
