Attorney General and Justice Minister Ano Pala has supported Prime Minister Peter O'Neill's earlier statement regarding the Singapore court's decision on the matter between P-N-G-S-D-P and the state.
In his statement delivered in parliament yesterday, Mr Pala, described P-N-G-S-D-P Chairman Sir Mekere Morauta's statement which claims dismissal of the state's application, as incorrect. Mr Pala said the Singapore court's decision was handed down on the 25th of August and it did not dismiss the state's application. He said the court made various injunction and orders which Sir Mekere has not mentioned in his media statement. Ano Pala said the court in deed made various injunctions and orders which Sir Mekere deliberately chosen to remain silent on that in his media statement. He said while the court did not granted an injunction to express PNGSDP from disposing of the assets in its Long Term Fund, the court recognized that the program rules already exist to restrict the use of this assets. He said the court further recognized the state interest and concern in preserving the PNGSDP assets for the benefit of the people of PNG and WP and therefore directed PNGSDP to provide information and documents about its assets to the state on a regular basis. Mr Pala confirmed Sir Mekere's statement that the court also granted an injunction restraining PNGSDP of disposing of its assets in the Long Term Fund pending the hearing of the state's application, which the state already sought a leave. Mr Pala depended the Prime Minister's statement which was claimed by Sir Mekere as misleading. Sir Mekere said the Singapore court had dismissed the state's application and Prime Minister should apologize to the people for misleading them. Comments are closed.
