The PNG Government has been requested to allocate an additional K400 million to the organizing committee of the 2015 Pacific Games, because it has blown its budget.
The request for extra funding comes as the Pacific Games Council raised its concern yesterday that some key sports infrastructure for the Games would not be ready in 2015. According to government sources, the request was made by the organizing committee, however, the Treasury Department is very disappointed with the request because it is over and above. PNG Government had already allocated K600 million but this was blown up. It is understood, some of the sporting facilities will not be ready in 2015. Sports Ministers Justine TKatchenko could not be reach for comments.
