Prime Minister Peter O’Neill says former treasurer Don Polye is politicizing the UBS loan to justify his actions for failing to carry out government orders.
He says Government Ministers should work together as a team to drive the government’s development agendas. He says the report of this loan will be tabled in the May Parliament Session. He claimed no laws were breached in the signing of the UBS loan and denied claims made by sacked treasurer Don Polye that Section 209 of the constitution, the Fiscal Responsibility Act, IPBC act and the Organic Law on Sovereign Wealth Fund were breached. He said Polye’s arguments were political. He also questioned the motives of economic experts at the National Research Institute who said the effect of this loan will be felt by millions across many generations. He said their arguments were sensational. Prime Minister O’Neill said the appointment of Patrick Pruaitch to the role of Treasurer was based on his experience saying Pruaitch knew most of the issues that’s being debated including the IPBC loan. And he again described the UBS loan as the best any government has entered into at any one time. PNG Facts/ EMTV Comments are closed.
