Prime Minister Peter O' Neil failed to turn up for an interview with the Police Fraud Squad at Konedobu today.
NBC News has obtained a letter from convicted Police Commissioner Tom Kulunga for the Prime Minister to go in for questioning in relation to allegations of fraudulent payments to Paul Paraka Lawyers. But Director Fraud and Anti Corruption, Chief Superintendent Matthew Damaru, says they waited all day without an appearance by Mr O'Neill. O'Neill had indicated he would go in at one-thirty but failed. The warrant of arrest was issued last Thursday by the Waigani Committal Court, and was served on him personally this morning. Mr Damaru says fresh evidences have been gathered by Task Force Sweep relating to the 71-point-8 million kina paid out by the Finance Department to Paul Paraka Lawyers. Earlier this year, a warrant of arrest obtained on the same issue, was ruled out by another committal court as improper. Comments are closed.
