The Supreme Court has refused a bail application by jailed Pomio M-P, Paul Tiensten.
Judge, Justice Bernard Sakora handed down the decision this morning (26/6/14), on behalf of the three-man high Court bench. The unanimous decision was reached, saying reasons given by Tiensten for bail could not convince the judges, and that the matter should be dealt with administratively. The Judge further states, Tiensten failed to exhaust all other administrative avenues available for him at Bomana, before going to court. Tiensten is seeking bail, claiming harassment and stone-throwing from inmates among others, thus endangering his life. He will continue to serve his nine-year jail sentence at Bomana outside Port Moresby, while awaiting a date to be set for his Supreme Court review appeal. Comments are closed.
