Kairuku Hiri M-P, Peter Isoaimo, is wasting no time in raising issues of concern from his people, in Parliament.
In his maiden speech to the House on Friday, Isoaimo called on the National Capital District Governor, Powes Parkop, to lift the current betel-nut ban in the city. He told Parliament, the ban concerns the well being of Port Moresby, but, is having adverse effects on the livelihood of his people, particularly on their freedom of movement to and from the city and other parts of Central province. Isoaimo claims, his people are being harassed, assaulted and face daily violence in their own province, all because of the betel-nut ban. He said, their food bags are cut open by City Rangers and Police manning the Laloki road block, in search of betel-nut, which is an insult to the quiet, humble and obedient Kairuku-Hiri people, who cause no harm to Parkop and N-C-D Comments are closed.
