The National Capital District Commission will spend more than K1.8b on upgrading and reconstructing major roads in the nations' capital.
Governor Powes Parkop says the NCDC has so far spent over K790m already on building and upgrading existing roads in the city. He says he will secure funding from all available avenues including getting loans to build the city to international standards. Mr Parkop said this when he signed a contract worth more than K50m with Global Construction Company to upgrade and reconstruct two major roads in the city. They are the Scatchley Road at Badili to Three Mile and Two Mile Hubert Murray Highway down to the Badili round-about. Mr Parkop says the city is growing at a very fast rate and the city authority must improve the roads to cater for the traffic. "So on the part of the Commission, Board, our Executive Management, we are committed to delivering these high quality infrastructure to prepare our city for the future, to create more opportunity for business to grow, more investment to take place, to address the social needs of the city. We are getting major support from the National Government. We have to do what we have to do in order to cater for growing population and economy of ours." Comments are closed.
