MOROBE Governor Kelly Naru clarified that he and his cabinet have not agreed to the proposed Lae City Commission.. Governor Naru said what he and his Provincial Executive Council, Lae City Lord Mayor Koim Trilu Leahy and Ahi local level government President Sam Agi had all agreed to at their meeting with the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill last Wednesday in Lae, was to find a way forward on the issue.
He said the Prime Minister has agreed for consultations to proceed on the Lae City Commission. "We have not agreed on the formation of the Lae City Commission," he said. "We have not agreed on the dialogue, discussion and consultations on this contentious Lae City Commission. There are many issues that need to be discussed and agreed upon. "At our meeting on Wednesday, we did impress upon the PM that we were extremely disappointed at the manner in which Lae MP (Loujaya Kouza) has gone about bringing about this proposal to NEC without any consultation and any input from the Morobe Tutumang. "We have between now and November session of Parliament to iron out this issue which should have been done well before the proposal was brought forward to NEC approval," Mr Naru said.
