Morobe Governor Kelly Naru has again hit out at the National government’s distribution of funds and major development projects, concentrated only in Port Moresby. Governor Naru criticised the government saying the other rural districts around the country and important cities like Lae city are not benefiting. The first term governor made this comment, when supporting the stance by 14 clan leaders from the urban villages of Butibam and Kamkumung, who recently petitioned the national government to pay them their compensation for the Lae city land. The landowners are also threatening stop any more developments on any portions of state land around Lae until their compensation is honoured by the state.
