Foreign Affairs and Immigration Minister Rimbink Pato is on a fact finding mission with Melanesian Spearhead Group Leaders to Indonesia and its West Papua and Papua provinces.
Minister Pato is among M-S-G Ministerial Mission delegation led by Fiji's Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, Solomon Islands Foreign Affairs and External Trade Minister Yvon Faua and a representative of the Front de Liberation Nationale Kanak et Sociaiste (FLNKS) of New Caledonia. The MSG Ministerial Mission is on this fact finding mission in connection with the application by the West Papua National Coalition for Liberation for membership of the M-S-G. The Mission will also visit and meet various project sites and organizations to observe some of the socio-economic developments taking place in Indonesia with a view to developing cooperation in areas of common interest to M-S-G and bridging the connectivity between the people of Indonesia and M-S-G. The M-S-G Ministerial Mission has been invited to visit Indonesia who is a current observer of the M-S-G. Vanuatu is the only country that is not represented in this delegation and Minister Pato says the Government of Vanuatu will be briefed on the observation of this visit in the spirit of maintaining the solidarity and unity of the M-S-G.
