A cabinet reshuffle is likely to take place this month and it is tipped that new People's Progress Party leader Ben Micah to be the next Deputy Prime Minister.
There are two other contenders of the post: Treasury Patrick Pruaitch and Fisheries Minister Mao Zemings. A well-placed coalition source told the National Newspaper that Prime Minister Peter O'neill is expected to make major changes to his team during the month. The source says, Prime Minister O'neill has delayed the reshuffle because of a leadership tussle within the coalition partner PPP. The issue has now been resolved and Ben Micah is the new PPP leader that puts him in better position for the Deputy Prime Ministers job. Meanwhile, National Alliance party is also lobbying for its leader Pruaitch to be O'neills deputy. Comments are closed.
