POLICE made eight arrests following a series of crimes reported late last week in Port Moresby.
Two men were apprehended at Erima and one teenager at Badili for being in possession of dangerous drugs. They are at the Boroko police station cells and awaiting court hearings. Other arrests were of a man from Eastern Highlands accused of sexually touching a girl after leading her to a drain at a settlement near Boroko. Another man from EHP was charged with sexually penetrating his step-daughter who reported that she had been suffering four months of abuse from the man at a settlement in Port Moresby. Three other men suspected of murder, aged between 19 and 21, have been detained at the Town police station for questioning after the body of a man was found at Gabi village, just outside Port Moresby. A woman from Wanigela village in Port Moresby was allegedly threatened with a knife and raped by a man said to be a relative of her husband, after he lured her using a phone to the Downtown Sea Park. Police reported one suspicious death in which a 50-year-old man from Chuave, Chimbu, was found floating in the sea near the Idubada Mobil Depot outside, Port Moresby. A major theft incident was reported at Badihagwa village, outside Port Moresby, where a semitrailer carrying K18,000 worth of building materials overturned and settlers living nearby took the contents belonging to a local man.
