29 inmates from Boram Prison in East Sepik Province broke out yesterday afternoon. Correctional Service Commissioner Michael Waipo confirmed this afternoon. Commissioner Waipo said that out of the 29, 10 were recaptured and 2 died and are in the General Hospital in Wewak. Waipo said that he has not received details as yet on how the inmates broke out however he was told by the commanding officer in Boram that they are still trying to find out how, and what happened. He said that, the commanding officer is yet to get details on which officers were on duty when the incident occurred. Meanwhile police in Wewak are on the lookout for the escapees. PNGFM
