The SP PNG HUNTERS trashed Wynnum Seagulls 36 – 13 in Round 23 of the Intrust Super Cup championship in front of a packed home crowd at the Sir John Guise Stadium. The Wynnum Seagulls led in the first half 13 – 8 but the Hunters came back strong in the second half in what Coach Michael Marum described as sticking to their game plan. Marum said he was very happy with the win today but added that the boys still have a lot to do before their last game away from home against the Mackay Cutters next weekend at the Mackay Stadium in Queensland, Australia and their last home game against Burleigh Bears here at Sir John Guise Stadium on the 30th of this month. An impressed captain Israel Eliab, expressed same sentiments and added that the crowd and the atmosphere was also very different from Kalabond Oval which had been home to the Hunters ever since they begin their journey in the Intrust Super Cup. Meanwhile the Wynnum Seagulls are now on third place in the Competition with 32 points and they have to work hard also on their last matches to make it to the finals which will take place on the 13th to the 19th of September.
