Landowners of the proposed new asylum detention centre on Manus Island say, they will go to court to get the provincial government, the national government and the Australian government to recognize them, and involve them in developments taking place on their land.
A landowner spokesman Abraham Kia told NBC News, there was no proper landowner survey conducted by the three governments, resulting in genuine landowners missing out on discussions on their land. Mr. Kia also says, they have missed out on contracting and other spin-off activities currently underway on the new site, east of Lorengau town. "Mipla painim husat lawyer i ken helpim mipla lo kotim government. "What government blo mipla wokim with the Manus provincial government, ino singautim ol parties, like mipla ol LOs. Attempts to get comments from Manus Governor Charlie Benjamin and Manus MP, Ronny Knight were unsuccessful. Comments are closed.
