A live bomb went off in Madang Wednesday morning, which rocked the entire main town center.
Our reporter in Madang, Anisah Issimel, said the bomb went off between half-past-nine and a quarter-to-10, when business was getting into full swing, and leaving town residents in shock. The bomb was sitting among a pile of rubbish, about three meters from a foreign-owned store and blew up, after someone lit a fire there. There have been no reports of injuries nor casualties. Police have blocked off the area and called in bomb specialists from the P-N-G Defense Force, to search the area. All stores within the vicinity closed, then opened for business. Sergeant Bola Rimur, acting Officer-In-Charge C-I-D Madang, said shells from the bomb were collected as far as 200 meters from the scene of explosion. Comments are closed.
