Lae MP Loujaya Kouza has queried the Government saying that there are anomalies with the formation of DDA’s and questioned whether or not Bougainville Members of Parliament will access the DSIP funds and other grants from the Government. PM Peter O’Neil in his response said the three members of Bougainville will be supported as this is fair for them to bring services to their districts, O’Neill pointed out that funding will continue however 3 cities of Mt Hagen, Lae and Kokopo the three cities have been earmarked by the government to become City Authorities and as such to avoid duplication, the member or local member for the three electorates will be the chairperson or chairman of the city authorities as a result of this DDA will not be established for the three electorates but they all have separate acts of Parliament that will manage the three cities. This news room understands that for Kokopo and Mt Hagen this is being rolled out however for LAE the open member has resigned from the chairperson’s post.
