A team of government officials including Madang Governor Jim Kas will be travelling to Long Island today to assess reports of a long dry spell which reportedly claimed 19 lives and destroyed food gardens.
Provincial Health Director Marcus Kachau said the team will be leaving early today, by helicopter. However, an advance party consisting mainly of health officers are currently on their way to the island. The team headed by the Program Manager for Health Raikos District, Kamas Kuyan left yesterday by dinghy with some medical supplies. Comments are closed.
