“The Government has to stop promising things that it is not going to deliver! They are just causing frustrations not only for the people but the Provincial Governments and the other members of the Parliament who represent the people.” Governor for Oro Province Garry Juffa made this statement in light of the Oro Provincial Government operating with no funds, resulting in no government services been delivered to the people while he calls the Government arrogant and ignorant. “We are into March and that is one quarter of the year almost gone and yet Oro Provincial Government has not received its Grants and other funds that were promised to us by the Government,” says Governor Juffa. The Oro Governor have also asked the Government a series of questions as to why the public servants are not paid properly, why Provincial Government’s have not received their funds, and is it because the country is going broke? He continue to say that the provincial government continue to pay for the salaries of public servants and support staffs but there is no actual funds for the public servants to utilize to carry out effective service delivery to the people and the people are suffering. He is now calling on the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill to come out clearly and inform the people what is happening. “He (PM) needs to come out and tell the people if we are going broke and if so, how are they going to address it and what solutions do we have to take, rather than just pretending to say everything is okay while the people continue to suffer,” says Governor Juffa. Meanwhile, Governor Juffa has also highlighted that there are some outstanding projects in the province that were promised funding support like a K10million funding for the province’s Tourism Industry and K50million for Development Projects on the Kokoda Corridor as well as others. To date the people of Oro has not seen this funds or have not benefited from. PNGFM /PNGFacts
