The Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived in Wewak to red carpet welcome.
Mr Abe was met by Papua New Guinea’s first Prime Minster and Grand chief Sir Michael Somare. Mr Abe was in Wewak to officially open the Fish market. The Japanese PM arrived in the East Sepik Provincial capital in his Falcon Jet with his entourage.Thousands of people and school children turned up to welcome the delegation. Ministers Patrick Pruaitch, Rimbink Pato and Justin Tkatchencko and Jimmy Simatab joined the welcome team. Mr Abe returns to Port Moresby this afternoon. JAPAN has been providing economic assistance to Papua New Guinea for 40 years, since 1974 to the tune of approximately K3.75billion (150 billion yen) and is willing to provide support for the further development of Papua New Guinea in the future. In addition, there 600 volunteers of both Japanese Overseas Cooperation Volunteers ( JOCV) and Senior Volunteers which have been working together to develop PNG. Comments are closed.
