With the prices of fuel decreasing over the last 15 months this should have been reflective in the price reduction of goods and services as well.
This has not been the case and concerns have been raised by the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission (ICCC). ICCC Commissioner Mr Paulus Ain in raising these concerns said "the significant fuel price reduction would have reduced the operational cost of businesses consequently and the business community must be good citizen and inform the public why there has been no reduction in price of goods and services." The appeal doesn’t only cover the reduction in prices for specific goods such as rice, flour and sugar but all goods and services across the board need reflect the decrease in fuel prices because fuel is what drives the economy. "Many people complain when there is price increase in fuel prices however when there is a price reduction on fuel prices no one wants to be the first to announce its price reduction on the goods and services it provides," said Mr Ain.
