H.E. Grand Chief Sir Michael Ogio, GCL, GCMG, KStJ, Governor General of Papua New Guinea is recovering from a heart surgery he underwent at Raffles Hospital in Singapore. Grand Chief Sir Michael underwent a bypass heart surgery and is now recuperating from the surgery. Official Secretary Mr. Tipo Vuatha who accompanied the Governor General to Singapore and has returned, reported that the surgery went well and that the Governor General’s condition is stable. Grand Chief Sir Michael had sought medical attention in Port Moresby, however, due to his condition, recommendations were made to seek further medical attention overseas. Mr. Vuatha said, the Governor General is being kept under close medical observation at this time to monitor his condition. Mr. Vuatha said, the Governor General is expected to make a full recovery and will return to the country next month. Speaker of the National Parliament Hon. Mr. Theo Zurenuoc is acting Governor General until such time the Governor General resumes duty.
