Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O'Neill says his government will not hand down a Supplementary Budget in the first quarter of this year, assuring that the country's economy is on track.
Peter O'Neill warned commentators not to talk down the economy, saying its downturn is only temporary. He maintains the Government has framed the 2016 Budget well:Mr. O'Neill said, It is not in the best interest of the country and he urged people to make constructive debates rather than making emotional debates that are unwarranted under the challenges and circumstances we are facing and the challenges that the global economy is in" The Prime Minister was responding to calls by Sinasina-Yongomulg MP, Kerenga Kua, and Opposition Leader Don Polye who had called for a Supplementary Budget to cater for the drop in world commodity prices.
