The Government has spoken out for the first time, in its attempt to put to rest doubts over the number of 63 sitting days, which Parliament must sit, under the Constitution.
The issue has been a contentious one, with the Opposition announcing it will file a Supreme Court reference, particularly when the Government adjourned the House early last week, which the Opposition claims was to avoid a looming Vote Of No Confidence Against the Prime Minister. Mr. Zeming says the Parliamentary calendar year runs from July to July each year, because of the return of writs, therefore, by Law, Parliament has enough time to make up for the number of days. He's denied that the Opposition will file a Supreme Court Reference over this issue. Zeming, who is also the Member for Tewai-Siassi, meantime, has hit out at comments by Lae M-P, Loujaya Kouza, claiming there was an automatic allocation of revenue from the PNG LNG project to Churches. Zeming, described Kouza's claims as a figment of her own imagination, saying it was only intended to gain support for her own cause from the Churches.
