Member for Sohe and Community Development, Youth and Religion Minister has denied claims of misuse.Minister Delilah Gore refuted claims that she used her ministerial funds to fund the removal of Oro Governor Garry Juffa.Minister Gore said: “It is very unfortunate that this payment has surfaced at the time when Oro Politicians are experiencing differences.”It was alleged that the K17,000 bill at the Grand Papua hotel was in relation to a planning meeting held by Minister Gore with fellow Oro MP David Arore, Malaysian logging company executive Victor Yu, and several Oro Local Level Government Presidents who were accommodated at the Grand Papua while they were in Port Moresby.“However as far as the department is concerned, the records are in order, the payment is proper and has gone towards activities directly under the mandate for the Ministry for Community Development, Youth & Religion,” Minister Gore said.Minister Gore, who recently took over as Minister for Community Development, was involved the unlawful attempt to topple the Oro Governor Gary Juffa as some critics put it.She said her department was one of the lowly funded government agencies despite the important role it was mandated with.Minister Gore knew of these short comings when she was presented with a report when she took over in her new role.“It was from the report that the Minister Gore requested assistance through the Prime Minister’s Office specifically for Ministerial Programs and activities. “The National Gaming Board gave K300, 000 specifically to help the Ministers Office,” she said.Minister Gore said under this funding assistance, she directed that the funds be used to support the numerous request that were coming to her offices specifically for children, churches, disabled, women and youth activities.“One of these directions was to facilitate the accommodation for eight youth leaders who would meet with her ministerial staff to discuss youth projects in her province,” she said.
