Port Moresby's Gordon Market was shut down this afternoon as two ethnic groups clash at the market. Shops at Gordons including the main market were forced to close following an ethnic clash between Tari’s and Engans, according to the police officers at Gordon’s Police station. Police said an argument started at the bus stop area and a man was stabbed with a knife and collapse close to the police station. Upon seeing that his clansmen retaliated by attacking innocent people and opportunists took over the situation looting shops and attacking PMV buses. Police responding quickly to take control of the situation however many PMV buses had their windscreens smashed. It is still not clear if the victim who was attacked died and how many people were injured but according to a senior officer from the Boroko Foot beat Unit, many buses had their windscreens smashed and a good number of people were injured.
