Minister for Health and HIV Aids Michael Malabag has suspended the Eastern Highlands Provincial Health Authority Board and ordered an investigation into its administration.
The Eastern Highlands Provincial Health Authority board is not proactive in the administration of health system in the province and lack of leadership provided by its board has resulted in poor performance health workers and ineffective health care delivery in the province. Minister Mlabag expressed this, ordering an independent inquiry into the administration of the EHPHAB to provide facts on issues of governance. Mr Malabag said instruments of the suspension and the appointment of a care taker board are being processed and will be delivered this week. He further adds that the instrument of the inquiry and the terms-of-reference is also being processed. The EHPA board inquiry committee is expected in the province at the end of this week to conduct its findings into the management affairs of the PHA board. Meantime, the Health Minister has appealed to all health workers in the province including support staff of the P-H-A to maintain normal operations of delivering health care services to the people.
