Papua New Guineans now have easier access to government services through the eGovernment Portal, which was officially launched on Thursday, October 3rd, during the closing day of the Digital Transformation Summit 2024. The eGovernment Portal, developed by the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), offers key features such as SevisPortal, SevisWallet, and SevisPass. Chief Developer Samson Korawali explained that the platform is designed to improve service delivery by providing users with a Digital ID that is stored in the SevisWallet. This ID enables citizens to make online payments and monitor their transaction history. The portal also offers services like police clearance, school fee payments, water bill payments, academic result access, and health service registration. DICT Secretary Steven Matainaho emphasized that the portal is currently in its pilot phase, with sustainability being a crucial factor for its long-term success. "This is a significant step forward in our digital transformation and the creation of a digitally empowered society. The launch of this pilot service represents a major advancement in how we engage with both the public and private sectors," Matainaho stated. The pilot phase will cater to the first 10,000 users.
Kumul Technical Consolidated Holdings Limited (KCHL) is partnering with DICT to support the delivery of digital government services. The portal was officially launched by KCHL Managing Director, Professor David Kavanamur. The three-day Digital Transformation Summit 2024 concluded on a high note, with additional outcomes including the launch of the Gavamani Toktok newsletter and the DICT Corporate Plan.
