The involvement of police in enforcing the betel-nut ban in Port Moresby was questioned in Parliament yesterday.
Police Minister, Nixon Duban told parliament, that the heavy involvement of police in enforcing the ban is not really necessary and it is also not the core function of the police. Mr Duban said police should be concentrating on law and order issues and major crimes in the city and not the betel-nut ban. The police minister's statement comes after Central Governor, Kila Haoda, questioned Duban on who directed the police to raid the market at Porebada village over the weekend. ""They're actions are very embarrassing especially during this time when this government have given a lot of support for modernisation program and they have no exhaust to go and rush any public for the matter. Me, Mr. Speaker, what's they're gonna sure the good Governor and I asked trying it to him to write to my office and will attend to this matter". Comments are closed.
