The Member for Madang has openly lashed out at the police hierarchy over the lack of command and control in the police force in the province.
Nixon Duban's remarks were delivered during the Independence Day celebration at Laiwaden Oval, witnessed by thousands of people including Governor Jim Kas and Provincial Administrator, Daniel Aloi. Mr. Duban, says there's no coordination of the police force in the province, resulting in a break down in law and order. Mr Duban stressed, policing coordination at the provincial headquarter has been very weak and at some point non-existent, creating a very unconducive environment for economic growth. The former Police Minister pointed out that it is the duty of the Police Station Commander to make sure an efficient coordination of police personnel, however this seems to not be working. Mr Duban also encouraged police officers to do more foot beat patrols especially within the urban area. Mr Duban and Governor Kas had both chipped in to the work of police. Duban specifically to his electorate allocating vehicles to assist. Minister Duban emphasized that despite the effort by government leaders, there has not been any improvement in policing in the province especially in Madang District which hosts the provincial capital.
