Drug Registration may be the way forward for Papua New Guinea, amidst claims that the awarding of the contract to Borneo Pharmaceutical did not follow proper procedures.
Owner of the Tavas Medicines & Health Care Supplies Coe Ko'ou Sesoeh, says this must take place to make the market conducive for indigenous entrepreneurs to enter. Sesoeh's comments come, after a forum held at the School of Medicine and Health Science by the Community Coalition Against Corruption today, to discuss and find a way forward from the aftermath of the awarding of the drug procurement for P-N-G, to Borneo Pharmaceutical. Mr Sesoeh says, to get International Standards Organizations accreditation would be very costly for budding P-N-G businesses. He says, this is because the South Pacific, apart from Australia and New Zealand, are part of the unregulated market. Mr. Sesoeh states, if the country registers drugs procured, it would cost less, as distributors would not be required to have an ISO accreditation however, they would be responsible to ensure, that they procure all the generic drugs and not the counterfeit drugs. Meantime, the C-C-A-C is expected to organize a bigger gathering to involve representatives from all the stakeholders. Comments are closed.
