Cricket PNG today announced its National Teams for upcoming Pacific Games the PNG “A”Team and the Pacific MMI Lewa’s Team.
Cricket PNG Chairman Mr Nick Nades congratulated the athletes who were selected for the National Teams saying, "we want the best in the games." The Pacific MMI Lewas have been selected for the first time ever to participate in the Pacific Games in Cricket and Coach Iammo Gapi Launa encouraged her players to stay focus on their main target and that is to win Gold. “We have been preparing for the Pacific Games for the last 6 months and the time has come for you athletes to make us proud”, she told the Lewa’s Team. Meanwhile the PNG “A”Team’s Captain Chris Amini told the “A” Team to have no regrets as the time arrives for the games. He said we have been having most of our Victories overseas and it is time we have victories on our home soil. Cricket Legend and 1991 PNG Cricket captain Tanoa Vai also challenged the teams on the implementation of what they have learnt through their trainings during the games. He told athletes to submit to their Captains and Coaches and do not underestimate their opposing sides. “Fiji is a very strong side to face but the teams had prepared well and they must play by their game plans to achieve good results”, he told the athletes.
