The Supreme Court today refused an application by Komo-Magarima MP Francis Potape, seeking to stay the National Court decision of January 07, 2016 stating it was an abuse of process and causing delays to the original court proceedings. Presiding Judge Justice Bernard Sakora said the substantive matter can be properly heard in the National Court regarding the legality in the removal of incumbent Hela governor Anderson Agiru when it returned on February 19. He said Mr. Potape’s application will not solve the dispute at hand and will muddy the waters in relation to the dispute and move it further away from the original proceedings. “A multiplicity of proceedings is the last thing parties and the people of Hela Province want over the seat of the governor of the province. Hela Province needs stability and leadership in government,” said Justice Sakora. PNGFM/PNGFACTS
