Children in Papua New Guinea these days are exposed to the change in technology which has put them in greater risk of accessing indecent information and materials from the internet via mobile phones and latest technology gadgets available currently. This was made known by the Chief Censor Mr Steven Mala during a two days workshop held by the Censorship Office at March Girls Resort outside Port Moresby. Mr Mala made it know that in the past children were brought up through strict discipline following cultural traditions and spent more time with their grandparents who thought them what was good and what was bad in terms of ethics and morality. "However, this current trend, kids are too exposed to their mobile phones and are accessing the internet frequently and even the smaller ones know already how to use smart phones, therefore, the first teaching of censoring starts with the parents to teach their kids at home first rather than letting them get exposed to the large flow of information," said Mr Mala.
